Modern “Louis Zinc”

By , June 16, 2008

As a professional firm, I get so much promotional mail everyday. I look forward to it, as it keeps me updated on all the latest art openings, invitations, special shows and fun new products. Today I got a card from a British furniture designer, John Reeves, showing his new collection called “Louis Zinc”.

As the card says, “it celebrates the rawness of industrial beauty in an unexpected way.” I like it because it meets my criteria for the lovely mix of traditional/contemporary/whimsical design I am favoring today. It has the shape of a Louis XVI chair leg (traditional), but the shape is only on the inside(whimsical), and the outside is straight(contemporary). Clever, don’t you agree?

The pieces have a patinated zinc finish, so the finish will continue to develop over time, whether the pieces are inside or out.

The line has several pieces including a stool, a bench, a table, and a coffee table. But my favorite has to be the “Kissing Bench”:

Isn’t it perfect and charming? These pieces can fit beautifully in so many different styles of interiors today. I think this fellow, John Reeves, is really someone to watch!

All the best to you,
